Expression of interest (Postdoc positions possible in Coding Theory)

The department “Mathematical Foundations of Informatics” (MFI) of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences welcomes expression of interest by postdoctoral researchers, offering to host highly motivated mathematicians and computer scientists, who wish to apply for a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship or a National Scientific Program “P. Beron” Fellowship. Successful candidates will be affiliated with the International Center for Mathematical Sciences, Sofia (ICMS-Sofia), which is part of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics. The main activities of MFI are research, applications and training in coding theory, combinatorics, computer algebra, and theoretical computer science. All Bulgarian Participants at the 22nd JBOM Are Returning with Medals

Снимка: MediaBricks.bg Two gold and four silver medals won the young Bulgarian mathematicians during the twenty-second edition of the JBMO. It takes place every year and students at the age of not more than 15.5 can take part in this competition. JBMO has one competition day of 4,5 hours and the participants solve 4 problems from the areas of algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics. Each problem is scored with 10 points. The maximum possible score is 40 points. Here are the results of Bulgarian students: Borislav Kirilov (8th grade, First Private Math School, Sofia): 10+10+6+10=36: gold medal. 70th Anniversary of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

On October 27th The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics celebrates its 70th anniversary. The anniversary will be marked by celebration and exhibition on the history and achievements of the Institute in the Great Hall of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 2 p.m. Patron of the event is the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rumen Radev. On October 25th and 26th, the IMI Multimedia Hall will host a scientific conference titled “Sharing Ideas,” which will present the achievements of IMI scientists. Our colleague Nikolay Tzvetkov received a prestigious international award

The French Académie des Sciences awarded one of its prizes for 2017 – Le Prix Leconte to our colleague Nikolay Tzvetkov. The Leconte Prix (in French: Prix Leconte) was founded in 1886 by the French Academy of Sciences to honor breakthroughs in mathematics, physics, chemistry, natural sciences or medicine.
