This round table will bring together researchers, librarians, and experts in open science, responsible research practice, scholarly communication and research assessment.

We will discuss how open and responsible research practices can be embedded across the academic lifecycle – from planning and data management to publication, visibility, reuse and evaluation.

Emphasis will be placed on the potential role of altmetrics as a complementary, carefully interpreted layer in the assessment of research activity.

Speakers and participants in the discussion:

  • Mahendra Mahey – Tallinn University и Estonian National Museum: Lessons we can Learn from Tracing the Reuse of Digital Cultural Heritage Objects
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valeria Simeonova – Факултет по математика и информатика, Софийски университет „Св. Климент Охридски“: Altmetrics, Open Science and Responsible Research Assessment: Current Trends and Challenges
  • Moderator: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Dobreva – IMI – BAS and University of Strathclyde.

We invite researchers, representatives of scientific and educational institutions, academic libraries, scientific information centers, experts in science policy, science communication, scientific infrastructure and scientific data management to actively participate in the discussion.

Places are limited. Participants will be notified of confirmation of their participation by June 29, 2026.

The event is organized within the framework of the Pilot Program for Building the Capacity of Higher Education Institutions and Scientific Organizations for the Creation and Use of Scientific Data through the Principles of Open, Responsible and Citizen Science, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science and coordinated by the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
