We examine the limiting behaviour of an order 1 Markov random walk in R2, i.e. a walk that remembers its previous step. Provided a certain symmetry of the Markovian condition, under relatively mild conditions we prove convergence to a Brownian motion and bound the rate of convergence. Therefore, an order 1 Markov condition is insufficient to alter the limiting behaviour of a random walk.

Лятна изследователска школа по математика и информатика (ЛИШ’24) 21 юли – 10 август 2024 Творчески дом на БАН, Варна   Провеждането на Лятната изследователска школа на УчИМИ е възможно благодарение на учредителите на УчИМИ – Съюза на математиците в България, Фондация „Еврика“, Международна фондация „Св. св. Място: зала 403 Резюме: An interesting feature of subdiffusion-reaction systems is the lack of a universal model for reactions in subdiffusive media. Consequently, the coarse-grained fractional subdiffusion-reaction equations depend on the specific details of the underlying microscopic random walk models. This complexity arises from the memory effects inherent in subdiffusive transport systems. Simply adding a reaction term to the transport equation can be physically inconsistent. Due to the memory effect, the subdiffusion process depends on the entire history of the system’s evolution making the diffusion and reaction processes inseparable.
