DESCRIPTION:Minimax problems and results for sum of translates functions\nАвтори: Bálint Farkas\, Béla Nagy and Szilárd Révész\, Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics\nДата: 06.06.2023 г.\nЧас: 17:30 ч.\nМясто: Зала 503 на ИМИ-БАН \nРезюме: We introduce a general framework to investigate minimax problems for sum of translates functions \nF(x\,t)=\sum_k K(t-x_j) or F(x\,t)=J(t)+\sum_k K(t-x_j)\, \nwhere K is a general concave “kernel function” and J is an “outer field” function\, t runs [0\,1]\, and x=(x_1\,…\,x_n) is a set of nodes which are used to translate the kernel. \nOur setup is very close to logarithmic potential theory\, but fixing n and focusing on a more detailed analysis\, we obtain new results even for very classical problems. Extending a method of P. Fenton\, we reach considerable generality while proving precise results for minimax\, maximin and equioscillating node systems\, and the behavior of the local (interval) maxima. One of our main motivations is to generalize Bojanov’s theorem about the variant of the Chebyshev problem with prescribed zero multiplicities. (петък) от 13:00 часа ще се проведе дистанционно заседание на семинара по „Алгебра и логика”. \nДоклад на тема: \nOld and new aspects of the Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem\nще изнесе Vladimir Dotsenko (Institute for Advanced Mathematical Research (IRMA)\, University of Strasbourg and CNRS\, France). \n\nАбстракт. The Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem on universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras is a fundamental result in many areas of mathematics: from differential geometry and representation theory to homological algebra and deformation quantization. I shall give a short overview of that result and some of its proofs that emerged in about 120 years since Poincaré published a paper about it\, and outline a new proof which perhaps captures its category-theoretic essence in the best way possible. Всеки морфизъм φ: A → B в категорията на крайно-мерните комплексни комутативни асоциативни унитални (Банахови) алгебри поражда структурен сноп от функции на една A-променлива и със стойности в B\, чийто диференциал е съвместим с A-модулната структура на B. Оказва се\, че макар и това да са изображения на няколко комплексни променливи\, те притежават и много свойства на функциите на една комплексна променлива. Същевременно това дава възможност за изграждането на относителен комплексен анализ и относителна (на ниво скалари и в смисъла на Гротендик) комплексно-аналитична геометрия. В доклада ще разгледаме някои основни аспекти и въпроси на локалната аналитична теория. \n\n

(петък) от 13:00 часа ще се проведе дистанционно заседание на семинара по „Алгебра и логика”. \nДоклад на тема: \nPolynomial identities in Novikov algebras\nще изнесе Nurlan Ismailov (Astana IT University and Suleyman Demirel University\, Kaskelen\, Kazakhstan)\n(Joint work with V. Dotsenko and U. Umirbaev). \n\nАбстракт.The talk is devoted to Novikov algebras satisfying nontrivial identities. We show that a Novikov algebra over a field of zero characteristic that satisfies a nontrivial identity satisfies some unexpected “universal” identities\, in particular\, right associator nilpotence\, and right nilpotence of the commutator ideal. This\, in particular\, implies that a Novikov algebra over a field of zero characteristic satisfies a nontrivial identity if and only if it is Lie-solvable. We also establish that any system of identities of Novikov algebras over a field of zero characteristic follows from finitely many of them\, and that the same holds over any field for multilinear Novikov identities. Доклад на тема:\n\nThe Erdős Box Problem and the Combinatorial Nullstellensatz\n\nще изнесе\nд-р Алексей Гордеев\, гостуващ учен към секцията.\n\n\nАбстракт. The Erdős box problem can be formulated as follows: how many points of {1\,2\,…\,n}^m can we take so that for every m-dimensional box (hyperrectangle with sides parallel to coordinate axes) at least one of its vertices is not taken? When m is fixed and n increases\, an order of growth of this number is known only in the case m=2. \nI will talk about Alon’s Combinatorial Nullstellensatz and its connection with the Erdős box problem and\, more generally\, with hypergraph Turán numbers. In particular\, I will show how a certain generalization of Combinatorial Nullstellensatz can be used to obtain explicit examples for the Erdős box problem\, asymptotically matching best known examples when m<5.

DESCRIPTION:Поредната сбирка на \nНационалния семинар по стохастика\nще се проведе на 28 юни 2023 г. (сряда) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ – БАН. \nДоклад на тема \nThe inverse first-passage time problem for general stochastic processes including Lévy processes and diffusions\n(joint work with Mladen Savov)\nще изнесе \nAlexander Klump (postdoctoral fellow (DAAD) at the IMI-BAS). \nАбстракт: The inverse first-passage time problem for a stochastic process X(t)\, t ≥ 0\, consists of the following question. Given a distribution on the positive real numbers\, does there exist a function b such that the first-passage time τ = inf{t > 0 : X_t ≥ b(t)} has this given distribution? In this talk we will give conditions on the process X(t)\, t ≥ 0\, under which the answer is affirmative. For a Markov process we present further additional conditions under which the solutions of the inverse first-passage time problem are unique. These conditions include Lévy processes with infinite activity or unbounded variation and diffusions on an interval with appropriate behavior at the boundaries. This extends the results in the inverse first-passage time problem for Brownian motion to a class of processes with discontinuous paths and\, for example\, allows a new range of applications. \n

Douglas\, Harvard University.\n15:30 ч. Лекция 1: Tameness and quantum field theory \nРезюме: I will discuss the notion of a space of quantum field theories\, and explain various approaches to its definition and some of its expected properties. I will then cover joint work with Thomas Grimm and Lorenz Schlechter on tameness of quantum field theories.  This is based on the mathematical concept of o-minimal structures\, which has been very powerful for proving finiteness results. Given a QFT or a space of QFTs\, we define a corresponding structure\, and conjecture in many cases that it is tame (o-minimal).  We also show that Feynman amplitudes at any fixed loop order are tame. \n17:00 ч. Лекция 2: Numerical methods for differential geometry \nРезюме: State of the art machine learning techniques can be adapted to many problems in scientific and mathematical computation.
