DESCRIPTION:26 ноември 2025 г.\, сряда\, от 16:00 ч. в Зала 403 на ИМИ – БАН. \nСъвместно заседание на Семинара на МЦМН и Семинара на секция Математически основи на информатиката \nFrank Vallentin (Universität zu Köln) \nLeast distortion Euclidean embeddings of flat tori\nРезюме: In the emerging field of bi-Lipschitz invariant theory\, one studies embeddings of orbit spaces H/G (H a Hilbert space\, G a subgroup of its automorphisms) into simpler Hilbert spaces via distance-preserving maps up to a constant factor. \n\nIn this talk\, I present an infinite-dimensional semidefinite program that computes least-distortion embeddings of flat tori Rn/L\, where L is an n-dimensional lattice\, into Hilbert spaces. Using symmetry reduction techniques\, this infinite-dimensional semidefinite program reduces to an infinite-dimensional linear program. \nEven with this simplification\, solving the program remains challenging. By combining this approach with the linear programming bound for spherical designs\, combined with brute-force methods\, we finally are able to determine the least-distortion embeddings of Rn/Zn\, R2/A2\, and R8/E8. \n(Based on joint work with Arne Heimendahl\, Moritz Lücke\, Philippe Moustrou\, and Marc Christian Zimmermann) \n\nLeast distortion Euclidean embeddings of flat tori\, ICMS seminar talk by Frank Vallentin

Програмата е следната.\n\nICMS Seminar and AGT Seminar\n\nTuesday\, December 2nd\, room 403 IMI-BAS. \n\n\n13:00 — Roy Magen (ICMS\, IMI-BAS) \n\n Flavours of homotopy theory \n\n\n14:00 — Liviu Ornea (University of Bucarest) \n\n Distinguished non-Kähler metrics on compact complex manifolds \n\nAbstract (Magen): \n   In this talk we will consider different flavours of homotopy theory for different types of geometric contexts. First we will recall the usual definitions of the homotopy category\, and equivariant homotopy categories\, and we will show how we can think of these in terms of (equivariant) smooth manifolds. This will give us a suitable framework with which to adapt the notion of homotopy theory to different geometries.\nWe first use this framework to give a brief overview of the story in algebraic geometry\, which produces motivic homotopy theory. Next\, we will use our framework to discuss notions of homotopy theories parametrized by a geometric object\, and discuss some consequences.\nDepending on time constraints and interest\, we will end either by discussing work relating this homotopical framework to 6-functor formalisms\, by going over a version of this story in the complex analytic setting\, or by introducing C∞-schemes and discussing possibilities for an extension of the story for manifolds to this setting. \nAbstract (Ornea):\n\n   I shall review the definitions of LCK\, pluriclosed and balanced metrics and discuss their incompatibility on the same compact complex manifold.

Показваме как\, с помощта на автомати на Стрийт и нашата теорема за разделянето в интервалната темпорална логика с разширяващи модалности ITL-NL\, се получават кратки доказателства на изразимостта в ITL-NL на квантора по съждителните променливи и интервални версии на нормалните форми от йерархията на Манна и Пнюели и\, като следствие\, интерполационната теорема на Крейг и теоремата за явната определимост на Бет. Доклад на тема: \nДиференцируеми функции със сюрективни обобщени Якобиани\nще изнесе д-р Себастиан Тапия Гарсия от изследователската група по Вариационен анализ\, динамика и изследване на операциите на Техническия Университет Виена. \nАбстракт. In this talk we start with a brief discussion about the possible values that the limiting and Clarke Jacobians can take in the class of differentiable locally Lipschitz functions (defined on finite dimensional spaces). Then\, we construct a differentiable locally Lipschitz function \(f:R^n\to R^m\) such that\, for any nonempty compact connected \(C \subset R^{n х m}\)\, we can find a point \(x\) in \(R^n\) such that \(C\) coincides with the limiting Jacobian of \(f\) at \(x\). DESCRIPTION:Следващата сбирка на Семинара по приложна математика ще се проведе на 10 декември (сряда) от 15:00 в зала 503 на ИМИ-БАН. \nДокладчик: Giuseppe D’Onofrio (Politecnico di Torino\, Италия) \nЗаглавие: ADDITIVE SUBORDINATION OF MULTIPARAMETER MARKOV PROCESSES \nРезюме: In this talk\, we consider multiparameter multidimensional Markov processes that are time-changed by an independent additive subordinator\, obtained from a Lévy process by relaxing the condition of stationary increments. By extending Phillips theorem\, we show that the resulting process is a Feller evolution and we characterize its generator. We further derive its pseudo-differential representation and show that its symbol admits a Lévy-Khintchine representation. As an application\, we consider a factor-based specification for the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process subordinated by a Sato process. The constructive nature of this process is inspired by applications in finance which will be briefly discussed.

DESCRIPTION:Кога и къде: 12.01.2026 г.\, понеделник\, от 14:00 ч. в зала 578 на ИМИ – БАН\nДокладчик:  Валдемар Цанов (ИМИ – БАН)\nЗаглавие на доклада: Geometry of Milnor fibrations of equivariant plane curves\nРезюме: The local knot of an irreducible C*-equivariant complex plane curve singularity is a torus knot\, and the Milnor fiber is a Seifert surface for this knot. I will describe an explicit universal cover of the Milnor fiber by the hyperbolic plane\, using automorphic forms for triangle groups. The characteristic morphism of the Milnor fibration can also be recovered\, and used to construct geometric structures by universal covers on the knot complement in the 3-sphere\, as well as on the complement of the singular curve in the complex plane.

Accordingly\, contemporary mathematical analysis is at the verge of unifying seemingly different research areas and topics. DESCRIPTION:Дата и място: Вторник\, 27.01.2026 г.\, 13:00 ч.\, Зала 403\, ИМИ – БАН \nДокладчик: Jean-Pierre Gazeau (Université Paris Cité\, CNRS\, and University of Białystok) \nЗаглавие: Spectral and angular variables for open qudit dynamics \nAbstract:  In this talk\, I introduce a parametrization of finite-dimensional quantum states that is particularly adapted to the study of open qudit dynamics. Any generic density matrix in Cn can be described by separating spectral variables\, which encode the eigenvalue content\, from angular variables associated with the unitary degrees of freedom. These angular variables naturally live on the coset space SU(n)/T\, in the spirit of the Tilma–Sudarshan construction.\nA key outcome of this parametrization is a partial decoupling of the GKLS evolution: while the angular variables are driven by both the Hamiltonian and the dissipative contributions\, the spectral variables evolve under the dissipative part only. This separation provides a transparent geometric picture of decoherence and dissipation. DESCRIPTION:Two lectures by Milen Yakimov\,\nchair of the group on Cluster Algebras and Quantum Groups at the ICMS\, IMI-BAS.\n\nTuesday\, March 10\, at 13:00 in room 403\, IMI-BAS.\nCluster structures on quantum groups and the full Berenstein-Zelevinsky conjecture\n\nTuesday\, March 17\, at 13:00 in room 403\, IMI-BAS.\nReflective centres of module categories and quantum K-matrices\n\nAbstracts:\nMarch 10: Cluster Algebras were invented by Fomin and Zelevinsky in the early 2000s and quickly turned into an indispensable tool in many areas of mathematics. In this talk\, we will provide a gentle introduction to the subject. From the early days of the theory of cluster algebras\, one of the desired constructions was to turn the quantized coordinate rings of complex simple Lie groups into quantum cluster algebras. This remained elusive. We will present a resolution of this conjecture and of the Berenstein-Zelevinsky conjecture on cluster structures on quantum double Bruhat cells. This is a joint work with Fan Qin and Hironori Oya.\n\nMarch 17: Braided monoidal categories have applications in various situations. In particular\, their universal R-matrices give solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation and representations of braid groups of type A. There are powerful methods for constructing them: Drinfeld doubles of Hopf algebras and Drinfeld centres of monoidal categories. On the other hand\, universal K-matrices\, leading to solutions of the reflection equation and representations of braid groups of type B are much less well understood and there are no general constructions for them. We will describe a construction of reflective centers of module categories. It gives rise to a quantum double construction for universal K-matrices\, which can be viewed as a type B analog of Drinfeld’s double construction. (петък) от 13:00 часа\nще се проведе дистанционно заседание на семинара по „Алгебра и логика”. \nДоклад на тема: \nOn Pairs of Non-commuting Hermitian Operators on the Unitary Plane which are Permutable Measurements\nще изнесе \nВалентин Илиев (ИМИ-БАН).\nРезюме. In this presentation we study observables with spectre {-1\,1} on quantum systems with the unitary plane as a space of states. Examples of such quantum systems are spin-1/2 particles. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for two non-commuting observables to be permutable measurements\, that is\, the probability of obtaining a particular pair of results does not depend on the order of taking these measurements. (вторник) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ – БАН. \nДоклад на тема \nHow long does it take to train an Elephant Random Walk\nще изнесе \nZheng Fang (University of Zurich). \n\nРезюме: We study how conditioning on the first \(k\) steps\, which we think of as training\, affects the long-term behavior of the Elephant Random Walk. When the elephant is conditioned to be at position \(k\) at time \(k\)\, the first return time to the origin scales as \(k^{(4−4p)⁄(3−4p)}\) in the diffusive regime\, and grows exponentially in the critical regime. (петък) от 13:00 часа\nв зала 578 на ИМИ-БАН и онлайн чрез платформата zoom\nще се проведе дистанционно заседание на семинара по „Алгебра и логика”. \nДоклад на тема: \nSets preserved by a large subgroup of the special linear group\nще изнесе \nКалоян Славов (Медицински университет\, София).\nРезюме. The classical Kakeya problem in Euclidean space asks how “small” a set can be if it contains a unit line segment in every direction. More generally\, packing sets contain all images of a given set under a collection of transformations. Finite field analogues offer a combinatorial and algebraic perspective and motivate our work. \nWe study sets \(E\) in the affine plane over a finite field that are invariant under a large subgroup \(R\) of \(SL_2\). We prove that if \(|R|>c|E|^{3/2}\)\, then \(E\) must be contained in a line. The exponent \(3/2\) is sharp. We conclude with a remark on a related phenomenon in the Euclidean setting. DESCRIPTION:На 28 април 2026 г. (вторник) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ-БАН \nще се проведе заседание на семинара на секция „Изследване на операциите\, вероятности и статистика“. \nДоклад на тема \nМоделиране на повдигащи системи в сметосъбирането\nще изнесе Михаил Муков от “Интеликс Инженеринг”. \nВ настоящото изложение се разглежда задачата за оценяване на масата на отпадъка\, изсипван от отделни контейнери чрез сметосъбиращ камион\, оборудван със стандартни повдигащи вилици.\nОсновната цел е разработването на нискобюджетна измервателна система\, която може да бъде инсталирана върху широк диапазон от механични конфигурации на камиони с минимални модификации.\nСистемата комбинира сензор за налягане на маслото\, монтиран в хидравличната верига\, и стандартен инерциален измервателен модул от смартфон\, фиксиран към повдигащото рамо.\nСензорът за налягане осигурява измерване\, определящо повдигащата сила\, а акселерометърът и жироскопът се използват за оценяване на движението на повдигащото рамо. Въз основа на тези измервания и на предварително калибриран модел се определя масата на изсипания отпадък.\nОсновният акцент в изложението е върху физичната и математичната структура на метода. Това включва:\n\nВиртуално преориентиране на сензора към координатната система на камиона.\nПредварителна обработка на суровите сензорни данни.\nПремахване на дрифта на жироскопа.\nИнтегриране на ъгловата скорост за получаване на абсолютния ъгъл на изхвърляне.\nФизичен модел с неопределени параметри\, формулиран във вид\, подходящ за калибриране чрез регресионни методи.\nПодход с градиентно спускане за автоматично определяне на оптималната позиция на измерване.\nЛинейна апроксимация на експоненциалната зависимост на вискозитета на хидравличното масло от температурата\, което позволява системата да остане приложима и при ниски зимни температури.\n\nДокладът е по съвместни работи с Дамян Калагларски (Интеликс Инженеринг)  и проф. дмн Огнян Кунчев (ИМИ-БАН).\n\nПоканват се всички\, които се интересуват от темата.

Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje). \n\nРезюме: A competing risks model based on the Odd Lindley Half Logistic distribution is considered under progressive Type II censoring. Maximum likelihood estimates for the distribution parameters are obtained\, and the existence and uniqueness of these estimates are proven. The EM algorithm is applied to solve the log- likelihood equations and construct the s-th EM sequence. (вторник) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ – БАН. \nДоклад на тема \nRandom Flights and Anomalous Diffusion: A non-Markovian Take on Lorentz Processes\nще изнесе \nLorenzo Facciaroni (Sapienza University of Rome). \nAbstract: A Lorentz process is a model for the motion of a particle among randomly located scatterers\, also known as obstacles. It was originally used to describe the transport of electrons through a conductor. In the classical setting\, when the scatterers are distributed according to a Poisson point process\, the deterministic dynamics of elastic collisions can be approximated\, under the Boltzmann-Grad scaling limit\, by a Markovian random flight. The density of this limiting process is governed by the Boltzmann equation. Passing further to the hydrodynamic limit\, one recovers Brownian motion as the macroscopic description of the particle’s position. In this work\, we introduce a new class of point processes that generalizes the Poisson process and we investigate the motion of a particle which collides elastically with obstacles distributed according to this distribution. Unlike the classical case\, the corresponding limiting random flight process is no longer Markovian. Instead\, it exhibits memory effects that lead to superdiffusive behavior. At the macroscopic level\, the particle’s position converges to a continuous superdiffusive process. Within this framework\, we derive a non-local analogue of the Boltzmann equation governing the non-Markovian random flight. Moreover\, we show that the density of the superdiffusive scaling limit satisfies a fractional heat equation\, reflecting the anomalous transport induced by the underlying correlations. \nKeywords: Lorentz process · Boltzmann-Grad limit · Feller semigroups. \nReferences:\n1. These functionals play a significant role in various areas of mathematics and applied sciences\, including probability theory\, statistical mechanics\, and financial mathematics. In this talk\, we discuss some properties of exponential functionals associated with continuous Gaussian processes. These divergent interpretations are not merely philosophical\, as they lead to fundamentally different research agendas and engineering methodologies. In this talk\, the NARS (Non-Axiomatic Reasoning System) project is introduced\, with an outline of its assumptions\, representations\, inference rules\, and working process. NARS offers a fundamentally different vision of AGI than the one implied by today’s LLMs.
