The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026), the most significant and large-scale event in the world of mathematical sciences, was officially opened in Philadelphia, USA.
The Bulgarian mathematical community is represented at the forum by leading scientists and heads of academic institutions. Attending the congress are Prof. Julian Revalski – Director of the International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), Prof. Peter Boyvalenkov – Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (IMI – BAS), and Prof. Velichka Milousheva – Deputy Director of ICMS and IMI–BAS.
The International Congress of Mathematicians is organized every four years under the auspices of the International Mathematical Union (IMU). It brings together thousands of mathematicians from all over the world to showcase the latest breakthroughs, award the most prestigious honors in the field (including the Fields Medal), and chart the future directions of mathematical research.
During the prestigious forum, a short film dedicated to the activities, mission, and achievements of the International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS–Sofia) was presented.
