SUMMARY:ICMS Distinguished Lecture series in Representation Theory and Mathematical Physics - Ivan Dimitrov\, Lecture 1
DESCRIPTION:ICMS Distinguished Lecture series in Representation Theory and Mathematical Physics\nDate and place: \nMay 19 and 21\, 2026 (15:00–16:00 Sofia time) and June 1\, 3 and 5\, 2026 (16:00–17:00 Sofia time)\, Room 403\, IMI – BAS \nLecturer: \nIvan Dimitrov (Queen’s University\, Canada) \nTitle:\n \nRoot systems\, generalizations and applications\nRoot systems were introduced by Wilhelm Killing in 1889 as a tool for classifying Lie algebras. Since then\, they have become ubiquitous\, appearing in various contexts in seemingly unrelated areas of Mathematics. In this lecture series\, Ivan Dimitrov introduces and studies root systems and defines a generalization of root systems. He explains how this more general structure applies to various problems\, e.g. hyperplane arrangements. Finally\, he introduces and studies inversion sets of roots. The exposition is mostly self-contained\, assuming Linear algebra and some Group theory background. \nhttps://icms.bg/event/root-systems-ivan-dimitrov-lecture-series/

SUMMARY:International Conference on Mathematical Quantum Field Theory
DESCRIPTION:Mathematical Quantum Field Theory\n\n\n\nInternational conference in memory of Ivan Todorov\n\n\nStart date: 26 May 2026\nEnd date: 30 May 2026\nEvent location: Hall “Prof. Marin Drinov”\, BAS\, Sofia\, Bulgaria \n\n\nOrganized by the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy (INRNE) and the International Center for Mathematical Sciences at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences \nThe conference encompasses a wide range of modern topics at the intersection of physics and mathematics\, including conformal field theory\, vertex operator algebras\, integrable systems\, supersymmetry\, gauge theory\, gravity\, cosmology\, quantum information\, and the mathematical structures that connect them. \nIvan Todorov (1933-2024) was a leading Bulgarian theoretical physicist whose contributions to mathematical physics\, conformal field theory\, and the algebraic approach to quantum field theory shaped generations of researchers. He spent his career at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy (INRNE-BAS) and held many fruitful collaborations with colleagues around the world. This conference brings together former students\, collaborators\, and friends to celebrate his scientific legacy and international recognition. \nRead more on https://indico.global/event/16645/overview
