In the present talk\, we will discuss the prospect of electrodynamics in quantifying the self-interaction of a non-composite charged particle. We will demonstrate that under the consideration of unique to the particle Yukawa cut-offs the radial singularity in corresponding electromagnetic field potentials’ is removed allowing the classical theory to admit exact solutions for the particle’s self-energy and anomalous g-factor. Highly accurate results for the electron’s and muon’s anomalous g-factor will be presented\, with calculated values matching the most recent measurements reported in the literature to 0.59 ppt and 60 ppt\, respectively.

DESCRIPTION:Поредната сбирка на СЕМИНАРА на секция \n“Математическо моделиране и числен анализ”  \nще се състои на  30.01.2025 г. (четвъртък) от 14:00 часа по Zoom. \nДоклад на тема: \nSome mathematical aspects of simulation modeling of physiological processes in plants\nще изнесе Dr. Alex Topaj (Bureau Hyperborea Ltd). \nРезюме: The contribution presents the author’s experience of using mathematical methods to describe plant physiology processes in applied crop models. In contrast to the simplified data-based empirical approach\, the mechanistic description of plant vital processes in theory allows us to obtain new knowledge and to develop the universal crop models with parameters having physical meaning. Such explanatory models\, in addition to the traditional cause-and-effect method (the flow-balance approach\, leading to systems of differential or difference equations)\, can also successfully apply the alternative mathematical apparatus. The following examples of such use will be briefly presented: \n1) Organogenesis and phenological development of cereals. Dry matter distribution in the «shoot-root-ear» system as an optimal control problem of dynamic resource allocation.\n2) Stomatal Regulation. The functional balance between photosynthesis and transpiration under water stress.\n3) Biological nitrogen fixation of legumes. The interaction of active intellectual agents (plant and rhizobia) as an evolutionary game.\n

In this talk\, we demonstrate that essential self-adjointness can be restored by symmetrically weighting the momentum operator with a positive bounded function that approximates the indicator function of the given interval. This weighted momentum operator arises naturally from a similarly weighted classical momentum through the Weyl-Heisenberg covariant integral quantization of functions or distributions. \nReference:\nF. DESCRIPTION:Семинарът по \nМАТЕМАТИЧЕСКИ ОСНОВИ НА ИНФОРМАТИКАТА \nорганизиран от \nСекция „Математически основи на информатиката“ към ИМИ – БАН и \nФакултет „Математика и информатика“ – ВТУ\, \nВи кани на поредната сбирка на 8 януари 2025 г. от 17:00 часа в зала 401 на корпус 4 на ВТУ\, на която \nProf. Ferruh Özbudak\nSabancı University\nFaculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences\,\nİstanbul – Turkiye\nще изнесе доклад на тема: \nGeneralizing the Bierbrauer—Friedman bound to mixed-level orthogonal arrays\n(joint work with Denis Krotov and Vladimir Potapov) \nAbstract: We characterize mixed-level orthogonal arrays it terms of algebraic designs in a special multigraph. We prove a mixed-level analog of the Bierbrauer–Friedman (BF) bound for pure-level orthogonal arrays and show that arrays attaining it are radius-1 completely regular codes (equivalently\, intriguing sets\, equitable 2-partitions\, perfect 2-colorings) in the corresponding multigraph. For the case when the numbers of levels are powers of the same prime number\, we characterize\, in terms of multispreads\, additive mixed-level orthogonal arrays attaining the BF bound. DESCRIPTION:На 5 декември 2024 г. (четвъртък) от 15:30 ч. в зала 478 на ИМИ-БАН\, в рамките на семинара на секция „Анализ\, геометрия и топология“\, проф. Емилия Бажлекова ще изнесе встъпителна академична лекция на тема: \nПриложения на дробното смятане в моделирането на процеси с памет\nРезюме: През последните години значителен научен интерес се проявява към така нареченото дробно смятане\, което позволява интегриране и диференциране от произволен ред\, не непременно целочислен. До голяма степен това се дължи на приложенията на дробното смятане в математическото моделиране на различни процеси с памет\,  като например аномална дифузия и разпространение на вълни във вискоеластични среди. Започвайки от класическото уравнение на Ward-Tordai\, в лекцията се дискутират редица дробни еволюционни уравнения\, които описват процеси с памет. Основният фокус е върху изследването на тези модели чрез прилагане на аналитични методи: теорията на операторите и функциите на дробното смятане (предимно функции от типа на Митаг-Лефлер и техни обобщения)\, трансформация на Лаплас\, теорията на функциите на Бернщайн и някои специални класове функции\, свързани с тях.

This talk considers Köthe’s question of whether every associative locally finite-dimensional (abbr.\, LFD) central division algebra R over a field K is a normally locally finite (abbr.\, NLF) algebra over K\, that is\, whether every nonempty finite subset Y of R is contained in a finite-dimensional central K-subalgebra RY of R. It shows that the answer to the posed question is negative if K is a purely transcendental extension of infinite transcendence degree over an algebraically closed field k. DESCRIPTION:На 22 октомври (вторник) от 14:00 ч. в зала 503 на ИМИ ще се състои сбирка на\nСеминара по Изследване на операциите. \nДоклад на тема \nAsymptotic covariance matrix of Capon’s Maximum likelihood estimator and application of steered response power phase alignment algorithm in seismic array data processing – част 2\nще изнесе Александр Варипаев от секция ИОСВ. \n\nАбстракт: Capon’s estimator was originally developed for frequency-wavenumber power spectral density analysis. Theoretically\, it can be treated as maximum likelihood estimator of unknown vector parameter of multidimensional linear system (MLS) model with one input and m outputs.  Practically important and non-trivial case is considered\, when the number of nuisance parameters\, which are values of input deterministic signal\, tends to infinity. Under assumptions that MLS output signals distorted by random Gaussian stationary  EMBED Equation.DSMT4 -dimensional noise with known matrix power spectrum and the likelihood function of observations satisfies the conditions of local asymptotic normality\, the analytical form of limiting covariance matrix of the Capon’s estimate is given.Steered response power phase alignment algorithm (SRP-PHAT) is devoted to subclass of so called phase-based robust estimators. Mathematical basis of SRP-PHAT estimator shows its applicability to small-aperture seismic array data to solve two different tasks: frequency-wavenumber analyses and seismic source localization problems. Several experiments with real data demonstrate its advantage compared to conventional methods that are involved in most of free and commercial seismological software.

DESCRIPTION:Поредното заседание на Общия семинар на секция “Анализ\, геометрия и топология” ще се проведе\nна 22 октомври 2024 г. от 14:00 часа в зала 478 на ИМИ – БАН.\nДоклад на тема: \nHigher order estimates for Monge-Ampere type equations motivated by quaternionic geometry\nще изнесе Marcin Sroka\, Jagiellonian University\, Kraków\, Poland. \nПоканват се всички интересуващи се. \nРезюме. In the talk I will discuss obstacles for obtaining higher order a priori estimates for equation introduced by Alesker and Verbitsky in 2010 on HKT manifolds in relation to Calabi type conjecture on those manifolds (and similar type PDEs studied since on hypercomplex manifolds). After presenting the state of art\, I will focus on the key second order estimate. For the real Monge-Ampere equation on Riemannian manifolds it follows essentially by Pogorelov calculation\, for the complex Monge-Ampere equation\, in relation to Calabi conjecture\, it was proven by Aubin and Yau. DESCRIPTION:Поредното заседание на Общия семинар на секция “Анализ\, геометрия и топология” ще се проведе\nна 15 октомври 2024 г. от 14:00 часа в зала 478 на ИМИ – БАН.\nДоклад на тема: \nUnimodality Preservation by Ratios of Functional Series and Integral Transforms\nще изнесе Dmitrii Karp\, Holon Institute of Technology\, Holon\, Israel. \nПоканват се всички интересуващи се. \nРезюме. Elementary\, but very useful lemma due to Biernacki and Krzyz (1955) asserts that the ratio of two power series inherits monotonicity from that of the sequence of ratios of their corresponding coefficients. Over the last two decades it has been realized that\, under some additional assumptions\, similar claims hold for more general series ratios and integral transforms as well as for unimodality in place of monotonicity. In the talk\, we discuss conditions on the functional sequence and the kernel of an integral transform ensuring such property. Numerous series and integral transforms appearing in applications satisfy our sufficient conditions\, including Dirichlet\, factorial and inverse factorial series\, Laplace\, Mellin and generalized Stieltjes transforms\, among many others. The key role in our considerations is played by the notion of sign regularity. \n\n

The focus is on formulating them as graph optimization problems\, which are solved by using Integer programming techniques.

Such separation in time-scales can be found\, for example\, in the field of chemical oscillations [1]\, neuroscience [2]\, ecology [3] or opinion/information spreading [4]. In this context\, Geometric Singular Perturbation Theory (GSPT) is a powerful analytical technique which fully exploits the underlying time-scale separation. Epidemiological models also provide a natural fit for these dynamics. Consider\, for instance\, models that incorporate information dynamics [5\, 6]\, host-vector interactions [7\, 8]\, or even those that account for immunity loss and reinfection processes\, which occur over extended time scales [9]. Quantum elementary systems are associated with (projective) unitary irreducible representations (UIRs) of the relativity group (or one of its covering groups). This foundational perspective was first introduced by Wigner in his seminal 1939 paper\, within the framework of Einstein-Poincaré relativity. Consequently\, the coarse-grained fractional subdiffusion-reaction equations depend on the specific details of the underlying microscopic random walk models. This complexity arises from the memory effects inherent in subdiffusive transport systems. Simply adding a reaction term to the transport equation can be physically inconsistent. Due to the memory effect\, the subdiffusion process depends on the entire history of the system’s evolution making the diffusion and reaction processes inseparable. \n

The Chinese remainder theorem states that given coprime integers \(p_1\, …\, p_n\) and integers \(a_1\, …\, a_n\)\, we can always find an integer \(m\) such that \(m \equiv a_i \mbox{ mod } p_i\) for all \(i\). Similarly given distinct numbers \(x_1\,…\, x_n\) and \(y_1\, …\, y_n\) we can find a polynomial \(f\) such that \(f(x_i)=y_i\). These statements are two instances of strong approximation for the affine line (over the integers \(\mathbb{Z}\) and the polynomials \(k[x]\) over a field \(k\)). In this talk we will consider when an analogue of this holds for special subsets of \(\mathbb{Z}\) and \(k[x]\)\, such as squarefree integers or polynomials without simple roots\, and different varieties. We give a precise description for which subsets this holds on a toric variety.

Младен Димитров (Университет на Лил) \nДоклад: P-adic L-functions and the geometry of the Eigencurve \nДопълнителна информация: https://icms.bg/p-adic-l-functions-and-the-geometry-of-the-eigencurve-talk-by-mladen-dimitrov/ \nРезюме. For centuries\, understanding special values of L-functions has been a significant research topic in number theory. Their study has been central to many celebrated pieces of mathematics\, from Dirichlet’s theorem on primes in arithmetic progressions and the class number formula to the Riemann hypothesis and the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer (BSD) conjecture\, two of the famous millennium problems. \nThe BSD conjecture predicts that the Mordell–Weil rank of an elliptic curve is given by the order of vanishing of its L-function the central point. Iwasawa theory\, in turn\, seeks to relate the arithmetic over the p-adic cyclotomic extension with the behavior of a p-adic analytic L-function\, and various recent works on the BSD conjecture rely crucially on such p-adic methods. \nAn amazing feature of the p-adic L-functions is their ability to live in families\, thus their laws are governed by the geometry of p-adic eigenvarieties. In this lecture we will illustrate this philosophy through examples coming from classical modular forms and the Coleman-Mazur eigencurve.

DESCRIPTION:Поредната сбирка на \nНационалния семинар по стохастика\nще се проведе на 3 юли 2024 г. (сряда) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ – БАН. \nДоклад на тема \nControl Problems for Queuing Systems with Moving Servers\nще изнесе \nAsaf Hajiyev (Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences\, Institute of Control systems). \nАбстракт. For queuing systems with moving servers\, the control policy which means delays of a beginning service is introduced. In the capacity of efficiency index of systems is taken a customer’s average waiting time before service. Although it seems that it is a paradoxical idea to delay the beginning of service\, it has been proved that for some systems it gives a gain in a customer’s average waiting time before service. The class of queuing systems for which it is advisable to introduce delays is described. The form of an optimal function minimizing the efficiency index is found. It is shown that if a distance between neighbor services has exponential distribution\, then the gain in a customer’s average waiting time before service equals 10% and independent of parameter of exponential distribution. For uniform distribution such gain equals 3.5% and also independent of parameter of uniform distribution. The criterion to define for which systems the gain is greater are given. Numerical examples demonstrating theoretical results are given. \n\n
