DESCRIPTION:ICMS Distinguished Lecture series in Representation Theory and Mathematical Physics\nДата и място: \nMay 19 and 21\, 2026 (15:00–16:00 Sofia time) and June 1\, 3 and 5\, 2026 (16:00–17:00 Sofia time)\, Room 403\, IMI – BAS \nЛектор: \nIvan Dimitrov (Queen’s University\, Canada) \nТема:\n \nRoot systems\, generalizations and applications\nRoot systems were introduced by Wilhelm Killing in 1889 as a tool for classifying Lie algebras. Since then\, they have become ubiquitous\, appearing in various contexts in seemingly unrelated areas of Mathematics. In this lecture series\, Ivan Dimitrov introduces and studies root systems and defines a generalization of root systems. He explains how this more general structure applies to various problems\, e.g. hyperplane arrangements. Finally\, he introduces and studies inversion sets of roots. DESCRIPTION:Дата и място: вторник\, 9 юни 2026 г.\, 13:00\, зала 403\, ИМИ-БАН.\nЛектор: Azur Đonlagić (Université Paris-Saclay\nЗаглавие: Brauer-Manin Obstructions for Homogeneous Spaces \nРезюме: In this talk\, we introduce Brauer-Manin obstructions to the Hasse principle and to weak/strong approximation of adelic points on varieties over a global field. We also define variants of these obstructions well-suited for the study of rational points on homogeneous spaces of affine algebraic groups. \nWe then state the main questions considered in this theory and give an account of some developments\, including the speaker’s recent work. SUMMARY:Национален семинар по стохастика
DESCRIPTION:Поредната сбирка на \nНационалния семинар по стохастика\nще се проведе на 9 юни 2026 г. (вторник) от 14:00 часа в зала 503 на ИМИ – БАН. \nДоклад на тема \nModified percolation models on lattice graphs\nще изнесе \nViktor Stoyanov (University of Warwick). \nAbstract: We consider modified percolation models on the first quadrant of \(Z^2\)\, where many of the key tools from standard percolation on \(Z^2\) fail\, such as translational invariance. I will begin by defining the standard percolation model on \(Z^d\)\, giving an overview of what is known\, and then give some results which we prove for the first quadrant of \(Z^2\). In the second part of the talk\, I will discuss an anisotropic percolation model on the first quadrant\, with one of the two directions being ‘preferable’\, and show a partial result concerning the strict monotonicity of the connectivity function\, conjectured by de Lima and Procacci (2004).
