Seminar of the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Informatics

Seminar MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INFORMATICS The next meeting of the seminar will be held on September 17,  2019, at 2 00 p.m. in Room 503 of IMI-BAS. A talk  on: On combinatorics of tracing traitors codes will be delivered by Grigory Kabatiansky, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. Abstract. Tracing traitors codes were invented by Chor, Fiat and Naor 25 years ago. Later these codes were renamed as IPP-codes (codes with the identifiable parent property). It is an interesting combinatorial object related to separating codes, cover-free family of sets and error-correcting codes also. I'll discuss some known results as well as open problems. Everybody is invited.

Seminar of the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Informatics

Seminar MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INFORMATICS The next meeting of the seminar will be held on July 4, 2019, at 3.00 p.m. in Room 503 of IMI-BAS. A talk  on: Rotation cryptanalysis on Chaskey will be delivered by Liliya Kraleva, Catholic University of Leuven. Abstract. Rotational cryptanalysis is a probabilistic technique mainly used over ARX cryptographic structures. After encryption, if the outputs also form a rotational pair with probability more than for a random permutation we can use that as a distinguisher. Chaskey is a lightweight MAC algorithm for 32-bit microcontrollers. Its underlying block cipher has a permutation using only XOR, rotation and modular addition as operations. We perform a related key attack over Chaskey and find a distinguisher by using rotational probabilities. Having a [...]

Seminar of the Department of Mathematical Foundations of Informatics

Seminar MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INFORMATICS The next meeting of the seminar will be held on April 12, 2019, at 2.00 p.m. in Room 503 of IMI-BAS. A talk  on: Quadrature Domains and Equilibrium on the Spherе will be delivered by Peter Dragnev, Purdue University Fort Wayn. Abstract. Consider the unit sphere as a conductor, and place a unit charge on it which is free to redistribute into the configuration of lowest possible logarithmic energy. Then place finitely many point charges onto the sphere to constitute an external field. In the presence of this external field, what is the support of the new equilibrium configuration of the initial unit charge? We'll show that the answer involves planar quadrature domains. Everybody is invited.

A talk will be delivered on: Truth-Seeking in the Age of Disinformation by Preslav Nakov, Senior Scientist at the Qatar Computing Research Institute. Everybody is invited. Abstract. Given the constantly growing proliferation of false claims online in recent years, there has been also a growing research interest in automatically distinguishing false rumors from factually-true claims. In this talk, I will present several related problems. First, in the context of investigative journalism, I will address [...]
